Frequently Asked Questions
What is a winmail.dat file?
When Microsoft Outlook users send emails using Rich Text Format, attachments get bundled into a winmail.dat file. Non-Outlook email apps (like Apple Mail) cannot open this format natively.
What file types are supported?
Winmail Opener supports: winmail.dat (TNEF), .msg (Outlook messages), and .xps (XPS documents).
Is my data safe?
Yes! All processing happens 100% on your device. We never upload your files to any server. The app works completely offline.
How does the free version work?
The free version lets you open 10 unique files. Opening the same file multiple times doesn't count against your limit. All features are available—only the file count is limited.
How do I unlock unlimited files?
In the app, go to Settings and tap "Unlock Unlimited." This is a one-time purchase—no subscription.
My purchase isn't showing. What do I do?
Go to Settings → "Restore Purchases." Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the purchase.
How do I open files with Winmail Opener?
Tap a winmail.dat attachment in your email app → select "Open With" → choose Winmail Opener. You can also use the Files app or drag and drop on Mac.
